Pilomatrixoma Mimicking a Pyogenic Granuloma Clinically: A Rare Case Report from Syria

Background: Pilomatrixoma is a benign skin tumor arising from the hair matrix cells. It typically found in head and neck region. However, few cases of pilomatrixoma that mimic pyogenic granuloma have been reported. Clinicians should be aware it because may recurrence transform into malignant tumor. Case Presentation: We report rare case 9-year-old boy who presented with an asymptomatic mass on left cheek for 2 months. Clinically, was diagnosed as granuloma. An excisional biopsy performed sent to pathology department histopathological study. Histological examination showed pilomatrixoma. The patient discharged same day, without any complications. Conclusion: often misdiagnosed clinically; therefore, definitive diagnosis tumors made after histologic mass. Surgical resection wide margins optimal treatment local occur.
